"The Founder"

Tommy Layne

Tommy is a proud Middle Tennessee native, growing up in Defeated, Tennessee, and raised in Smyrna. From an early age, he was taught to keep God first, work hard, and respect the outdoors. Those values have guided his life and shaped the man he is today.

Hunting has been part of Tommy’s life since he was a kid. What started as time spent outdoors quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Growing up, he spent countless mornings in flooded timber, creeks, and lakes across Middle Tennessee chasing ducks and geese, while also developing a strong love for dove and turkey hunting. Every season meant another opportunity to be outside doing what he loved.

Much of that passion was passed down by his Uncle Chad Bowman and his Paw Paw, Thomas Elliott. They were the ones who first introduced him to hunting and the traditions that come with it. From them he learned patience, respect for wildlife, discipline, and the importance of earning every hunt. Those lessons shaped not only the hunter he’s become, but the person he is today.

Tommy’s heart has always been in public land hunting across Middle Tennessee. There’s something special about the challenge — the early mornings, long walks in, and the grind of chasing birds that have seen it all. It’s where hard work meets opportunity, and where every harvest truly means something.

For Tommy, hunting has never just been about the birds. It’s about faith, family, tradition, and the memories made in the outdoors. One of the things he values most is sharing the wealth of the hunt with family and friends — whether that’s time in the blind, a successful morning in the woods, or putting wild game on the table together.

What started as a kid chasing birds across Tennessee has grown into a lifelong pursuit — and the passion behind Pearlin Outfitters.
